The relaxed, boxy fit and raglan sleeves make it perfect for layering. Choose from shawl collar or collarless options, long crop or tall length, and fully lined or unlined versions. The Loft has a unisex fit, covering our entire adult size range, starting from tween/youth sizes.
Use pre-quilted fabric, upcycled quilts or quilted coverlets, or let your unique style shine by raiding your scrap bin and creating your own custom fabric. The creative possibilities are endless!

Sizes I - XVIII (30"-66" chest). This is a unisex/genderless pattern, designed for all bodies. It includes tween/youth sizes, which start where the child sizes finish.

This was a really enjoyable pattern to sew... the pattern and tutorial itself was easy to use and follow. The great thing is that this can be a slower sew if you choose to quilt your own fabric or quicker if you choose a ready made quilt or quilted fabric... so many possiblilities! I did recieve this pattern as part of the sew and show promotion... bit I will definitely be sewing it again and would highly recommend it!
With quilted coats being so in fashion lately, Twig and Tale has(yet again) made it so easy to make your own no matter your skill level. Whether you want to use fabric, prequilted fabric, a quilt or to piece your own, the Loft makes it so much easier than it looks. The fit is spot on, and with the easy to follow size blending, the outcome is the perfect, cozy coat.
Loft is a great wardrobe staple; a raglan jacket that comes in a short and midi length with two collar and two pocket styles to chose from. As always the instructions are super clear. In the pattern you also get many inspiring reverences that you can follow to help you create your own unique piece that feels like you.
I chose to use a small pack of plant dyed fabrics in various textures I got while traveling in Japan and combined it with a neutral off white. I used a simple running stitch to quilt my fabrics together into a warm layer perfect for the transitional season.
I will for sure revisit this sewing pattern as it is a great blanc canvas to play around with left over fabrics from my stash.
Wheather your upcycling a old quilt or quilting your own panels to make this jacket, it's a winner. Quick and easy pattern to sew really lets the quilt work do all the talking!!
We will be entering a season of cooler weather and I had really been wanting to make a quilted jacket. I had thrifted this beautiful quilt that needed some love poured into it and then was selected for this sew and share! When working with this quilt I couldn’t help but wonder all it has seen throughout its life as a quilt and all the adventures it will soon go on in its new life! This pattern is well written and walks you through every step to get a beautiful outcome.
This pattern is now the reason I'm obsessed with quilts. So easy to make and so many ways to make it uniquely your own.
I have never quilted before, but when I saw the tester call for Loft I immediately wanted to try it out... this style of jacket is so perfect where I am with fluctuating weather, and looked like a great opportunity to learn some new skills. I was really impressed with the clarity of the directions and guidance on "crumb quilting," which was how I chose to approach this project as a total beginner! There are a variety of ways to finish, add details, and even methods of creating/sourcing the base materials, which made it a really versatile pattern with lots of options. I love how mine turned out, and I can't wait until the weather cools off so that I can wear it!
Confession time I am a quilted jacket pattern collector- over the last few years I have bought many patterns but never made them as each pattern didn't contain quite the right set of options and life is too short to bother to try and combine my prefrred features across pattern brands.
So when Loft was in the pipeline my biggest delight was that it gave OPTIONS! I could choose to line or not, bind seams or not, have a collar or not, go for a boxy short jacket or a longer one and select my pocket shape- oh and I could use prequilted fabric or do my own quilting. At last I could play around within one pattern and make my dream jacket.
Initially I used prequilted fabric to work out my options then I was ready for some experimenting- this is one of the joys of the pattern you can make it tell a very personal story.
Loft is essentially very simple - 5 main pieces and then collar and pockets of your choosing. The instructions for making are clearly explained and if you go the prequilted route you can have your jacket in use in no time.
Quilting your own fabric does take more time but it is very satisfying to work through the processes outlined and use up your scraps.
This jacket is inspired by a Mondrian painting- I used left over piecesof linen to make my cloth- and if like me you machine your scraps together and machine quilt it does speed up the process.
A straightforward and simple pattern, but with room for so much creativity! Loved making my Loft
