    Perfect wedding attire

I was in a crunch for wedding attire. I put aches this pattern to make for my husband and completed it in one day. It took a few hours, not sure exactly but less than 5. He got compliments all evening on his shirt. It was perfect!

    Very accessible!

I'm new to sewing and I loved this pattern. There are fantastic instructions that are so clear to follow, and the videos on adjusting the size worked perfectly. I have made two already!

All his friends want one as well

I took me some courage to start with this shirt, as I was intimidated by the French seams. Never done that before. But then my teenager asked for this type of top, so I had to get started. The instructions are so clear, and the video tutorial is so helpful that my fear was all for nothing. The shirt turned out great. Son very pleased with the result. All his friends complimented him with his shirt, and wanted to know where he got it, as they also wanted to get one. When he told them 'My mom made it' they asked if I could make also one for each of them. What better compliment you can get. Thank you for this great pattern.

    Functional Costume Win

I bought the Breeze Shirt pattern about three years ago, shortly after I first started sewing. It was my introduction to French seams, which I initially thought were extremely difficult, but by the time I had finished two shirts I had decided that French seams are the way to go, and I regularly finish clothing with French seams because of the encouragement this pattern gave. Three years ago this pattern was pretty challenging for me as a beginner. Now, with a few years and plenty of garments and quilts under my belt, this pattern feels so natural to make. Returning to it this fall for the first time in three years I was delighted by the beauty of the simplicity in the construction of this pattern. From just a few pieces, one can construct a garment that looks beautiful and unique without being at all complicated. I would rate this pattern as an adventurous/advanced beginner pattern. The instructions, and especially the video tutorials, make it totally possible to follow if you are a new sewist. For someone who has been sewing for a couple of years, the brilliance of the construction, and the moment when you turn the collar right side out, are just a treat!

I made two Breeze shirts this Fall for my son, one with long sleeves for a Hobbit costume, and one out of batik with short sleeves for everyday wear. What I love about the long sleeve one is that, now that he has worn it as a costume, he can continue wearing it through the colder months. It is the ideal functional costume shirt! I made the Hobbit shirt out of heavy weight linen, which wears really nicely. It gave a lot of structure to the body, which is actually a nice change from the lightweight shirts he normally wears. The pattern is very forgiving with a variety of materials and I am now venturing into making it a third time in flannel with faux fur, which I think will be a great way to make it as well.

    super pattern

I’ve made the children’s Breeze shirt three times and love the pattern. My oldest child is now too big for the largest children’s size, so I was delighted to find the ‘tween’ sizes are included in the adult pattern. I made the second smallest size for my twelve year old and the fit is great. The pattern is so easy to follow with really thorough instructions. I found it helpful to mark the right side and wrong side of my fabric, because when using French seams which side you should be pinning and sewing on isn’t intuitive - marking the right and wrong side helped me to avoid mistakes. It’s also important to remember to trim your seam allowances enough - if you leave them too large they will stick out on the right sides! I used double gauze as the material and I love the result.
