Nothing sparks the imagination quite like a full, flowing cloak - it's a great base pattern for costumes.  Great for pregnancy and baby-wearing too.

Skill level:  Adventurous beginner construction, however more of an intermediate experience as you are dealing with large pattern pieces and expanses of fabric.

Skills you will learn: How to sew a facing, add in-seam pockets, and bind a hem.

Elegant and Enchanting

If I could give this pattern 6 starts out of 5, I would. Easy to work out sizing which fits well, excellent projector features, and elegant and enchanting to wear. I made mine to wear to a black tie wedding and it was much needed warmth on a rainy evening.

What a beautiful cloak!

I was so impressed with this - it's not the fastest sew (lots of long seams, and then again on the lining) but wow, it's such a nice finished piece! Also a beautiful pattern to show off some really special buttons if you've got them.

Middle Earth Adventures and Beyond

When the Overland Cloak released I immediately began thinking about how I could justify making one, since it has such an amazing silhouette. It just seemed unessential, and I have so many essential items on my sewing list already. I got the perfect excuse when my son asked to go as Frodo for character day at school. Frodo clearly needs his Elven cloak and the Overland Cloak is the perfect pattern.

The overland cloak, for me, was a more challenging make. You don't whip it up in a weekend. I felt like it was definitely an intermediate pattern. Every step is well outlined and I think the photos and descriptions which say what NOT to do are really a fantastic addition! It shows that a lot of thought went into what could possibly go wrong. The reason that I feel the pattern is for an intermediate sewist is because of the size of the pattern pieces (particularly for the midi length cloak) and the attaching of the lining into the cloak. When it all comes together right, it is a magical moment. But getting to that point is not quick! In the end, the work was totally worth it, and not only did it make Jack an amazing Frodo, but also I have happily worn it myself quite a few times.

Amazing cloak!

I loved sewing this and love the result even more. Like a good twirly cape, it does take a fair bit of fabric and the pattern is definitely worth taking your time with! Highly recommend!

Utter perfection

I have made a few cloaks before but all fell short compared to the epic Drama this one delivers.

I also really loved how comfortable it was and how the double button or in my case snaps kept it securely on my shoulders.

I've already had 2 friends ask for their own!!
