Just what I imagined

This pattern is absolutely fantastic! Thanks to the detailed instructions and guidance on getting the right fit, I actually have a well fitting coat in a colour/colours that I love! The pattern has so many options for the final look that it would be hard not to get a finish you love.

Great Instructions

Really great pattern, fits really well and the instructions were super clear. I was very surprised to see how much room there was in the hips! I learned a couple new sewing techniques while following the instructions. Will be making this pattern again soon! Next time I make, I plan to lengthen about 2 inches so I can have a larger seam allowance on the bottom hem. Having a couple issues with it not sitting flat.

a multiseason coat or a raincoat

I have made the forester coat twice now... Once as a multiseason hiking coat with a removable body warmer and then recently as a raincoat. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow and I think even a relative novice could follow them without too much trouble.. Only a few minus points. One is that they do not explain very well what to do when one is a broad-shouldered gal ( aka my upper bust is at least two sizes bigger than my full bust)... I ended using my full bust measurement as a guide line and did a massive broad shoulder adjustment but reading the newer blogposts that have been posted since, I think the inverse ( using upper bust and doing a SBA) might have been smarter. Two other minus points are that the sleeves are pretty tight at the ends( I ended up adding about 5 cm of width) and the model is boxier than expected which was fine for my raincoat but less so for my hiking coat which I wanted to be at least somewhat fashionable. Overall though I am really happy with both results even if taping the curved princess seams in my raincoat made me swear up a storm...

Forester coat

A great pattern. Easy to follow. I made myself a softshell coat with it and am very pleased with the result.

Great confidence booster

This is the first major project I've undertaken for myself and I'm so glad I took the plunge and tried it. I found a vintage blanket at a 2nd hand shop and decided to make a coat after seeing so many lovely examples online. Then I froze - what pattern to use, how to go about it, could I really do it? I asked lots of questions on the twig & tale chat Facebook group and was reassured by the help I was given. I even did a bit of pattern adjustment to tweak the sizing to my body shape. The instructions were clear with plenty of detail and even options for different ways of doing things. When I did get confused again a quick question on the chat group got me back on track. Since I've finished it, it's been my everyday coat and I've had so many compliments, from friends and strangers. I've even had questions about how I managed to do the 'tricky' bits like the pocket plackets, but honestly I didn't think that they were tricky at all because they were just part of the straightforward instructions. I'm planning on making another version in a summer weight fabric now I've got the pattern.

love this pattern!

I've made 4 Forester Jackets now and absolutely love his pattern. I even purchased the men's pattern and made one for my partner too. The size does run very large so best to check finished measurements if you'd like it more fitted. First time I made them for both my partner and me they ended up 3 sizes too big!
The photo is my latest make in Pinwale Corduroy lined with Minky Fleece. This combination is very warm but lightweight and works well in the Forester Jacket. I've also made them in softshell fleece lined with Minky fleece as well as wool lined with thin polar fleece. My favourite is lining is minky fleece for warmth!

Beautiful and easy to make

I have been looking for a beautiful field coat to make for ages! I was delighted when I stumbled across this pattern after buying the Rainhaven pattern to make my daughter.

It's a beautiful coat, easy to follow instructions and with the added advantage of the Nestledown add on - which I also made for the arrival of my second daughter.

I absolutely adore my coat and I get so many compliments on it.

My first coat

Instructions and videos are clear and easy to follow.
Lining pocket add-on and Baby carry panel add-on worked well for me too.
Next time I make the coat, I'd try to fit it better around the waist.

The pattern is detailed and precise. I would like it to have a longer variant and the sizes to be ready-made.
